Nuclear Response Plan

Nuclear Response Plan

The detonation of a 10-kiloton improvised nuclear device will prompt the most complex response the nation has ever experienced. The Nuclear Response Plan provides emergency managers with a framework to handle the complexity of a nuclear device detonation by defining seven key actions for the response:

  • Sound the Alarm
  • Find the Plume
  • Turn Everything On
  • Execute in the Field
  • Execute in the EOC
  • Execute Regionally
  • Execute Strategy

The Plan provides the procedures and objectives to execute each of these actions through tools that are best used to handle chaos: coordination, communication and effective management.
